swiss+ Employment Reference: What the Major Release 2026 Brings
The 2026 major release brings targeted enhancements to employment reference swiss+. The focus is on simpler processes, greater flexibility for HR teams, new features for creating employment references and the first steps towards a more modern user interface.
Key Points at a Glance
- New “Administrator” role for technical tasks such as interface management or email configuration
- New reference type: “Internship Reference”
- AI support for personal comments in the assessment
- Text modules with revised wording and a phased rollout
- New design, with the rollout starting in autumn 2026
What Is Changing
The 2026 major release expands and simplifies Arbeitszeugnis swiss+ in several areas. For example, a personal email address can now be stored in the employee master data. This is particularly useful when employment references are sent directly from the tool to employees after being digitally signed.
There is also greater flexibility when it comes to roles. The new “Administrator” role allows users to configure technical settings in the tool without granting them access to personal data or employment references. For example, IT can be given access to maintain API details under “Interfaces” or update the token in the “Mail Server” tab.
In response to repeated customer requests, the new “Internship Reference” type can now be activated. This allows employment references to be tailored more specifically to interns. The existing reference process remains unchanged.
In addition, managers can now use AI support during the assessment to turn keywords into a fully written comment. The text can then be copied and pasted anywhere in the assessment text. This feature requires a licence but is free of charge.
At the same time, the industry-specific text modules are being revised in stages. The aim is to use more modern, consistent language and distinguish more clearly between performance levels. The new text modules must be explicitly ordered and will be rolled out by target group or industry.
The timeline for the new industry-specific text modules:
- July: Healthcare
- October: Social care professions, food services, retail and banking
- November: Education, transport, police and media
Outlook: New Design
With the new design, Arbeitszeugnis swiss+ will feature a comprehensively updated user interface. This is intended to improve clarity, efficiency and ease of use. Plans include more intuitive navigation, optimised workflows and a modernised appearance. Importantly, the tried-and-tested logic behind reference creation remains unchanged. The new design therefore does not alter the underlying process, but makes the tool clearer and more pleasant to use.
Timeline:
- October 2026: User testing
- November 2026: New systems with the new design
- From March 2027: SaaS customers transition to the new design
- From July 2027: All customers on the new design
Our Conclusion
The 2026 major release makes Arbeitszeugnis swiss+ more flexible, easier to navigate and better suited to day-to-day HR work. Many of the new features may seem minor at first glance, but they can noticeably reduce workloads in practice: fewer manual steps, clearer roles, better traceability and a more modern user experience.
Companies can benefit from reviewing the new features with their own needs in mind and deciding which settings and enhancements suit their organisation.
