How Moritz came to HR Campus

After successfully completing his second degree in business administration at the University of St. Gallen, Moritz could hardly wait to gain a foothold in the wider world of work. Inspired by the Consulting Days at his university, it was the big names in management consulting and banking that attracted him. The contrast to his original career choice in the social sciences should be as great as possible.

He already had a job offer from a renowned consultancy firm in his pocket. Moritz received the offer from a major bank on Friday evening, five minutes before the interview at HR Campus. Out of pure decency and with the firm intention of accepting the bank's offer after the weekend, Moritz went into the interview with Marek without any expectations. They met in the beautiful HR Campus offices in Winterthur's old town.

"Ahhh, you must be Moritz!" Marek shouted across the office space and gave the almost two-metre-tall candidate a big hug. This was immediately followed by comments about the - in Marek's eyes - unsuitable suit and the, in contrast, very nice shoes. Slightly perplexed, but nevertheless impressed by Marek's fresh manner, Moritz gradually joined in the conversation. Rather briefly prepared, he speculated about the tasks in the world of HR Campus. However, the discussion centred almost exclusively on questions relating to Moritz's personal history and background. "The conversation was unusual - very informal, creative, not perfect and it had a certain start-up groove," Moritz recalls. "I felt transported back to my student days when I ran a bar on the side."

So, despite the major bank's acceptance, the two shook hands right at the end of the interview. Almost on his way out the door, Moritz asked: "Excuse me, please, what's the next step with the contract and what will I earn at HR Campus?". Marek simply said: "Money is not important. Trust me, it'll be fine!" The rest is history. - What would have happened to Moritz if he hadn't gone to this interview?
