What is SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking?

SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking is a cloud-based time management solution for recording attendance and absences in Employee Self Service. SAP’s solution has been greatly expanded and improved in recent years. With advanced functions such as mobile phone integration, clocking in and out via app or PC, terminal integration and complete integration into the payroll system, employee time management is simplified, transparency for management improved and human resources department efficiency increased.

Mobile app

From experience we know that easy-to-use time management tools are usually more successful. One of the most frequent customer requirements is for the tool to be intuitive, easy to use and require minimal training. One of the key advantages of SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking is mobile integration. With a user-friendly app for mobile time recording, it is easy for employees to log their times, check rotas and apply for days off either from their mobile devices or desktop. Both management and the human resources department can view all the time management data in real time, at any time, and can review and approve requests via mobile app or PC. The app therefore simplifies the processes for everyone involved and lets them manage their time more efficiently and effectively.

SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking makes it possible to record and analyse employees’ attendance in real time, with manual entry being minimized, reducing the likelihood of errors and ensuring that reports are available at any time. Time Tracking can be carried out directly in the system using a digital clock, or via a time clock in your establishment. Integration of terminals is particularly useful in production environments, warehouses and other businesses where the majority of the workforce work without access to a personal desktop PC. The system’s digital clock can certainly also be helpful for office workers, as they can thus spare themselves the effort of recording their working time manually. The clocking in and out functions measure employees’ attendance and absence precisely, thus avoiding disputes and mistakes in payroll and time accounting.


Another major benefit of SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking is that it is fully integrated into Employee Central and Employee Central Payroll. This means that the employee’s master data from Employee Central can be used and the hours recorded replicated directly in Employee Central Payroll. Reductions in holidays and payment for remaining holiday, or even purchase of additional days’ holiday, are recorded in Employee Central and automatically replicated in Employee Central Payroll once approved. The employee is then paid for or credited with the holiday, as applicable. This automation considerably simplifies the processes for HR.

On-call process and shift planning

The on-call process can also be integrated into SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking. Both employees and the human resources department are able to record the scheduled on-call period and on-call hours actually worked in Time Tracking. The process is fully digitalized in Employee Central Payroll through automatic replication of flat rates for on-call service and supplements for the on-call hours actually worked.

Schedules planned and predicted externally using third party shift planning tools can be imported into SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking or integrated via an interface.
