On 6 May 2022, 120 HR managers met again physically at Kraftwerk Zurich after two long years. The lively discussions in twelve barcamp sessions and the enjoyment of the subsequent networking aperitif emphasised the need for personal exchange.
At the beginning, four keynote speeches painted a visionary picture of the future of HR. Esmir Davorovic spoke about how knowledge sharing can work despite the abundance of information: "This requires an individual mindset, culture and technology." Data protection is also a cultural issue. Aniq Iselin argued that the conscious handling of personal data should already be addressed during the onboarding of new talent. And what happens when these new talents are no longer just people? Alexandra Gastpar suggested that the HR target group should be defined much more broadly and that we should think about recruiting beings instead of people in the future. Whether human, animal or futuristic beings: Eric Sieber convinced everyone that skills management, supplemented by a growth mindset, is the best opportunity for HR.
Inspired by these visions of the future, the participating HR Professionals explored twelve questions from their everyday lives in various barcamp rooms. For example, one of the highly topical issues addressed by those present was how employees can be brought back to the office after two years of working from home. Other issues included travelling workers, motivation for e-learning systems and dealing with time management in hybrid forms of work. The choice of topics was broad, but what seemed even more important to the participants was finally being able to experience a direct and personal exchange with other HR experts.
