Study Results 2025: What Swiss Employees Really Want

What do people need today to be satisfied in their job? HR Campus wanted to know exactly and commissioned the representative study «Employee satisfaction in Switzerland 2025». The aim was to find out how satisfied employees in Switzerland currently are, what motivates them - and how the degree of digitalisation is linked to employee satisfaction. Between 27 January and 5 February 2025, 1,507 working people from Switzerland aged between 18 and 65 took part in the online survey.

Digitalisation increases satisfaction and reduces stress

The study confirms the relevance of digitalisation for satisfaction and well-being. A high level of digitalisation in the company can significantly contribute to employees being more satisfied and feeling good - and at the same time experiencing less stress.

In addition to high work pressure and stress levels, the biggest stress factors include administrative tasks, a lack of support with stress and time management and a lack of process optimisation. The good news is that good personnel management and well thought-out process optimisation can be used to take targeted countermeasures. Both can have a demonstrably positive effect on mental well-being in the workplace.

Satisfaction starts with good teamwork. Structures help - but inspire people.

78 % of respondents are satisfied or even very satisfied with their colleagues. This soft factor is strengthened by a positive corporate culture and open communication.

However, our representative study also shows that employees place significantly more trust in their direct superiors than in HR. Just 42 % of those surveyed stated that they have a great deal of trust in HR - an alarming finding!

A look at our supplementary HR Campus customer survey reveals possible causes: HR departments still deal too often with administrative issues (80 % ). As a result, there is often not enough time for strategic HR and talent management.

Appreciation makes the difference

The study emphasises the importance of satisfied employees. They stay with the company longer, cope better with pressure and perform better. This is why the factor of feeling good at work is so central. Stress levels have the strongest influence on both physical and mental well-being at work, as the study shows.

The most important lever: recognition and Appreciation from management. Those who feel seen remain motivated - even in challenging times.

Flexibility is becoming a must

Flexible working models are more in demand than ever. Employees want significantly more autonomy in organising their working hours. There is a clear trend towards annualised working hours, 4-day weeks and flexitime. this presents companies with new challenges and calls for modern and digital solutions.

Conclusion: time for a new HR mindset

The results show: Satisfaction does not happen by chance. It is the result of smart leadership, digital processes and practised Appreciation.
